Graphitized Petroleum Coke (GPC): Definition
Graphitized petroleum coke is produced by heat-treating calcined petroleum coke (CPC) in a graphitization furnace at 2500-3000°C, transforming its disordered turbostratic carbon structure into an ordered hexagonal graphite lattice (ABAB stacking). This process is called graphitization, and the output is termed graphitized petroleum coke or simply graphitized coke.
